Overview
PRISM is a clinical trial investigating the best timing for surgery after stereotactic radiosurgery (a highly focused form of radiation) in people with brain metastases.
The study aims to understand how the timing of radiation and surgery affects the tumour and the body.
How the trial works
Participants receive stereotactic radiosurgery followed by planned surgery to remove the tumour after a short delay (typically 1–3 weeks).
Researchers collect blood and tumour samples to:
- Study how radiation affects the tumour
- Understand changes in the immune response
- Identify the optimal timing between radiation and surgery
This approach helps improve understanding of how treatments work together.
Who may be eligible
This study may be suitable for people who:
- Have cancer that has spread to the brain (brain metastases)
- Are suitable for both radiation treatment and surgery
- Are otherwise well and able to take part in study procedures
Your treating doctor will confirm whether this trial is suitable for you.
